PuzzlePals ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by PuzzlePals. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use puzzlepals.app and our SMS service. By using PuzzlePals, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use PuzzlePals:

• Account information — your display name, email address, and password when you register
• Phone number — when you verify your number or text puzzle results to our SMS number
• Puzzle results — the share text you submit, including puzzle name, number, score, and emoji grid
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, and general interaction with the app

How We Use Your Information

• To operate and provide the PuzzlePals service
• To send SMS verification codes and result confirmation messages
• To display your puzzle results and scores to friends you have mutually connected with
• To calculate leaderboards, streaks, and overall scores
• To send optional weekly recap messages (paid tier, opt-in only)
• To improve and maintain the app

SMS Messaging

By verifying your phone number or texting puzzle results to our number (316-375-5900), you consent to receive SMS messages from PuzzlePals including:

• One-time verification codes
• Puzzle result confirmations
• Optional social notifications (follow requests, etc.)
• Optional weekly recap messages (paid tier only)

Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your information is only shared in the following limited circumstances:

• With friends you connect with — your display name and puzzle scores are visible to users you have mutually followed
• Service providers — we use Twilio for SMS delivery, Supabase for database hosting, and Vercel for application hosting. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies
• Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

Data Retention

We retain your account information and puzzle results for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@puzzlepals.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database hosting, and hashed passwords. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

PuzzlePals is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@puzzlepals.app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of PuzzlePals after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
